Back in May, my daughter was in another dance recital. I brought along my Nikon D50 with 18-200mm zoom lens and mono-pod. I set the shutter speed at 1/100 sec and ISO at 1600. I turned off focus assist light and the review display screen so it would not distract and annoy others watching the show. I set the focus to manual and focused on the stage and left it there.
I had done something similar before with a borrowed lens, professional grade 200mm lens with real fast aperture, but wanted to see what I could do with my own lens. I used LightRoom to clean up the noise in the pictures caused by low light and the high ISO. The result is quite nice.
Here are a few sample pictures.
